Principal Annice Lappin

After graduating with a Diploma of Teaching from Australian Catholic University in 1992, Annice began her teaching career at Nazareth School in Grovedale, where she worked for fourteen years. She then completed a Bachelor of Education in 1998. In 2007, Annice moved to St Robert’s School in Newtown and worked there for nine years, while also completing a Master of Religious Education/Theology and beginning a Master of Business.

Both at Nazareth and St Robert’s, Annice was a classroom teacher and has taught across all year levels. At both schools, she held various positions and roles of leadership, including Religious Education Leader, Learning and Teaching Leader and ICT Specialist Teacher and Leader, among others. Annice was Deputy Principal at St Robert’s, before being appointed as Principal of St Mary’s School from 2016. In her first two years at St Mary’s, Annice completed a Master of Business (Executive).

Annice is very grateful to have enjoyed the opportunity to work in Catholic Education in Geelong for the past twenty-eight years. She considers it a privilege to have worked in three great schools and with many fantastic teachers, learning support officers, students and families.

Annice is thoroughly enjoying her role as principal at St Mary’s School. St Mary’s School has great students and families and together a vibrant and inclusive learning community is being created. Annice is committed to working in partnership with all school families to provide the best education possible, for all students.

Annice’s office door is always open and she welcomes the opportunity to meet with parents, students and staff.

OUR FAITH JOURNEY

Acknowledgement of our parish and school precinct is symbolised in the Wathaurong aboriginal art design glass panel based on 'The Running Waterhold Gathering.'

The 3 lines linking in and out of the circle represents a journey line  and symbolises the journey people involved with St Mary's have taken during their time at school.

The 7 ring circle represents gathering at a meeting place and symbolises each year of education that children receive at St Mary's School.

The "C" shape motifs represents the people.  The 5 larger motifs symbolises the teachers, parents, extended family, parish and faith leaders.

The smaller "C" motifs line represents the children's journey through their time spent at St Mary's School.

Our Emblem

The Ocean (blue) and sand (yellow) represents Geelong and its coastal location.

The Parish (burgundy) links the school and parish - St Mary of the Angels'.

The River (white strip) winds its way from the top to bottom of the logo is symbolic of the Barwon River.

The Cross (white) is strategically placed at the top of the 'hill' indicating the school's central location.

The Original School Emblem including the motto 'Mater Dei Mater Mei' (Mother of God, My Mother) provides a strong link with the original St Mary's Primary School identity.

School Prayer

God our Father, bless this community of St. Mary's so that we may love you more each day.

Help the members of staff, the parents, and the students to grow in strength and kindliness as good Christians.

Encircle all of us with your loving care.  To the sick grant health, to the aged bring serenity, and to those in sorrow, joy.

May we grow in faith, tolerance and understanding, and may our love for one another grow deeper in our daily living.

Amen
